data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>El m\u00e9todo de conteo de carbohidratos ayuda a los pacientes a elegir sus alimentos y planificar sus comidas controlando la cantidad de hidratos de carbono, en gramos ingeridos, para mejorar su control glic\u00e9mico y alcanzar las metas del cuidado de la diabetes<\/p><p>Seg\u00fan la Asociaci\u00f3n Americana de Diabetes el monitoreo de los carbohidratos de las comidas utilizando el m\u00e9todo de conteo de carbohidratos, es la clave para lograr un correcto control glic\u00e9mico. Los pacientes diab\u00e9ticos con tratamiento intensivo con insulina deben ajustar sus dosis de insulina al total de carbohidratos de las comidas.<\/p><p>El m\u00e9todo de conteo de carbohidratos ha crecido en popularidad en los Estados Unidos desde la finalizaci\u00f3n del Ensayo Cl\u00ednico Controlado para el estudio de la Diabetes y sus Complicaciones (DCCT), en los que se utiliz\u00f3 de manera eficaz<\/p><p>La Asociaci\u00f3n Americana de Diabetes refleja que el uso del \u00edndice gluc\u00e9mico y la carga gluc\u00e9mica como un medio para evaluar el impacto gluc\u00e9mico de un alimento sobre la glucosa en sangre puede proporcionar un beneficio adicional modesto sobre el observado cuando se considera s\u00f3lo el total de carbohidratos<\/p><p><strong>Aplicaci\u00f3n del m\u00e9todo de conteo de carbohidratos<\/strong><\/p><p>Para la aplicaci\u00f3n del m\u00e9todo de conteo de carbohidratos los pacientes deben:<br \/><br \/>\u2981 Conocer qu\u00e9 alimentos contienen y c\u00f3mo se miden los carbohidratos;<br \/>\u2981 Aprender las porciones o los gramos de carbohidratos en los alimentos comunes;<br \/>\u2981 Entender c\u00f3mo leer la tabla de composici\u00f3n del alimento en los etiquetados de los mismos;<br \/>\u2981 Conocer c\u00f3mo estimar la cantidad de carbohidratos;<br \/>\u2981 Conocer cu\u00e1nta insulina se necesita para metabolizar los carbohidratos;<br \/>\u2981 Conocer cu\u00e1nta insulina se necesita para la correcci\u00f3n de la glucemia.<\/p><p>Los carbohidratos se pueden medir en gramos o en porciones. Una porci\u00f3n de carbohidratos equivalen a 15 gramos de los mismos. Los alimentos o grupos de alimentos que contienen carbohidratos son:<br \/><br \/>\u2981 Almidones, como cereales, granos, legumbres, vegetales y amil\u00e1ceos;<br \/>\u2981 Frutas y los jugos de frutas;<br \/>\u2981 Vegetales sin almid\u00f3n;<br \/>\u2981 Leche y el yogurt;<br \/>\u2981 Az\u00facares y La carga gluc\u00e9mica (CG) es el producto matem\u00e1tico del IG por la cantidad consumida y estima el efecto gluc\u00e9mico total de la dieta. Diversos estudios han demostrado el efecto positivo de las dietas con bajo \u00edndice gluc\u00e9mico (IG) sobre los l\u00edpidos en hiperlipid\u00e9micos y diab\u00e9ticos<\/p><p><strong>Conclusiones<br \/><\/strong><br \/>Se considera que el IG y CG pueden resultar \u00fatiles en la selecci\u00f3n de alimentos, sin embargo, no dan respuesta a todas las interrogantes relacionadas con la alimentaci\u00f3n de diab\u00e9ticos y no diab\u00e9ticos. <br \/>A pesar del significado de los resultados obtenidos en la presente investigaci\u00f3n, no se desconoce la controversia con relaci\u00f3n a la utilizaci\u00f3n del IG y la CG como herramientas cl\u00ednicas en el manejo diet\u00e9tico de la diabetes. No obstante, se coincide con otros autores en la potencialidad de estos indicadores, como elementos de prevenci\u00f3n.<br \/>En s\u00edntesis, los resultados obtenidos pudieran apoyar la hip\u00f3tesis de que IG y CG son herramientas \u00fatiles en la selecci\u00f3n de los alimentos protectores de enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas y pudieran ser considerados indicadores de calidad nutricional de la ingesta dietaria, pero no deben ser utilizados en forma aislada ni desconocer sus limitaciones en el \u00e1mbito cl\u00ednico y de salud p\u00fablica.<br \/>Autor: Nta.
